A discount reduces the price. A promotion is that same discount, advertised on your booking page. You can have the first without the second.
Find them under Discounts in the sidebar.
Creating a discount
- Go to Discounts and click Add Discount.
- Fill in the form and click Create Discount.
| Field | Notes |
|---|---|
| Name | For you — e.g. “Summer Deal” |
| Code (optional) | What a customer types, e.g. SUMMER20 |
| Value Type | Percentage (%) or Fixed Amount |
| Percentage / Amount | How much comes off |
| Combinable | Whether it can stack with other discounts |
| Valid From / Valid Until | Leave blank for no limit |
| Limit total redemptions | A cap on how many times it can be used at all |
| Once per customer | Each customer can redeem it once |
| Apply to services | Leave empty for everything, or pick specific services |
Value type and amount cannot be changed after you create a discount. Get them right, or make a new one. The code locks too, once someone has redeemed it.
The code rule that catches people out
A discount with no code only works in person. Staff apply it at the counter.
It is not applied automatically to online bookings — a code-less discount does not discount, or even appear, online. If you want customers to use it themselves, it needs a code.
This changed: code-less discounts used to apply automatically to every qualifying online booking. If you have an old one you were relying on for that, add a code to it.
Statuses
The list shows where each discount stands:
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Active | Usable now |
| Scheduled | Valid From is in the future |
| Expired | Past its Valid Until |
| Exhausted | Hit its redemption limit |
| Disabled | Deactivated by you |
Redemptions shows how many times it has been used, which is the honest measure of whether an offer worked.
To stop one early, use Deactivate from the row menu — it stays on record with its history.
Turning it into a promotion
A promotion is the discount shown as a card on your booking page.
- Open the row menu and choose Set up promotion.
- Switch on Show on your booking page.
- Write a Headline — required.
- Add a Description, and an Image if you have one — JPEG, PNG or WebP under 5 MB. A default image is used if you skip it.
- Save.
Two things block a promotion, and the dialog tells you which:
- No code. Add one on the discount first.
- No headline.
A preview shows how the card will look, including the validity date and Use code.
What the customer sees
The promotion appears on your landing page. Clicking it takes them straight into booking with the code already applied — they do not have to type it.
While choosing a service, they see which ones the offer covers, and the original price next to the discounted one. The saving is confirmed after they book.
Other languages
Headline and description can be written per language, using the Content language switch. Enable the languages first.
What discounts do to your figures
Commission reports show revenue net of discounts, and total Discounts given for the period. Worth checking after a promotion: a busy month at a heavy discount can earn less than a quiet one.
Tips
- Give it a code even for in-person use. It costs nothing and keeps the online option open.
- Set an end date. An offer with no end is a price cut.
- Use Once per customer for a win-back offer, and a total cap for anything you advertise publicly.
- Check redemptions before repeating a promotion. Two uses is not a campaign worth rerunning.
